Ron & Mary find hope in financial crisis.

Ron and Mary Baker are a hard working couple in their mid-40s with 3 children. They felt fortunate to purchase a home several years ago, but have struggled with finances due to the erratic economy and difficulty in maintaining employment. Mary was referred to the Crisis Center for assistance to prevent them from losing their home. The Baker family also received additional Economic Crisis Program services that included referrals for services to area food pantries, school supplies, medical care and clothing. The family was able to keep their home and is back on track.

Cynthia finds freedom from violence.

Cynthia called the Crisis Center for information regarding an emergency order of protection due to a recent incidence of physical abuse by a former boyfriend with whom she had ended their relationship 6 months earlier. The boyfriend was abusive throughout the relationship and had a history of breaking into her apartment. Cynthia indicated that the boyfriend had been recently arrested and that he told her that if she ever went to the police he would kill her. Over the next several weeks the Crisis Center Legal Advocate accompanied Cynthia to subsequent court dates; she did receive a plenary Order of Protection. Cynthia continues to use Crisis Center services for support as she works toward creating a safer lifestyle and becoming more self-sufficient.
